2008-2 "Dual phase" high strength steel.

Aclear present day trend is the use of stronger steels; allowing either a reduction in the thickness of the material or greater loads to be supported by the resistant section itself. The first approach is typical, for example in vehicle manufacture where the aim is for vehicles to weigh as little as possible to reduce consumption, while the second is more usual in the construction of cranes where greater resistance means greater load bearing capacity for the crane.
