FAGOR ARRASATE AND FLACHSTAHL WERL AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE GERMAN SLITTING MARKET

Fagor Arrasate has supplied Flachstahl Werl with its third slitting line with coil banding. The high performance and flexibility of this equipment have made it possible for this service center to become the German market leader in the use of this technology.

The new equipment is a premium line that incorporates all the latest technologies and automations available, allowing it to achieve the highest levels of productivity and reach the most demanding standards of surface quality, being able to adapt to the difficulties of working with delicate materials of thicknesses from 0.3 to 6 mm.

The new equipment allows Flachstahl Werl to process and cut material at high rates and with the quality required for the automotive industry thanks to its different tensioning systems. Specifically, it incorporates a system of belt bridle and a tensioner with felt pads for different types of steel.

This premium line achieves its high productivity thanks to the extensive use of automations that shorten tool change and machine adjustment times and reduce manual operations to a minimum, which increases ergonomics and operator safety. In this sense, either the change of the cutting tools or the position of the separators is carried out automatically.

This automation is complemented by automatic scrap collectors and the most complete and fastest strapping line, which allows the insertion of coils and the reception of cut and strapped slits and slit packages with hardly any operator intervention.

As far as electronics are concerned, the equipment has the most advanced Fagor Arrasate line control software, which allows it to be operated accurately and intuitively.

The other two slitting lines previously supplied are also characterized by their high flexibility and productivity to be able to adapt to the different needs of a service center. Both offer the highest quality slitting, rewinding and banding, and are capable of processing delicate materials without leaving surface marks.

The new Flachstahl Werl line benefits from the 2017 opening of Fagor Arrasate’s new after-sales service plant in Hilpoltstein, Germany, which allows it to offer its service near its customers.
