Fagor Arrasate event: FAGOR ARRASATE WILL PRESENT ITS LATEST DEVELOPMENTS IN LEVELLING, CUTTING AND STACKING ALUMINIUM AT THE ALUMINIUM CHINA TRADE FAIR

03th of July. Fagor Arrasate will present its latest developments for the processing, cutting, levelling and stacking of aluminium at the Aluminium China trade fair that will take place in Shanghai from the 10th to the 12th of July. This is the largest fair in the country that encompasses the entire supply chain of aluminium, a metal whose single largest producer is China. More than 600 exhibitors will attend the event and it is expected that around 25,000 visitors from 91 countries will also attend.

With growing concern about vehicle emissions and their impact on the environment, the automotive industry faces the challenge of reducing weight and improving vehicle performance without compromising vehicle safety.

To meet these needs, Fagor Arrasate has chosen to carry out R+D+i in the field of light materials such as aluminium, among others, with the equipment and process development optimised to work with this metal, which is booming in the industry.

Stand 1J05/Hall W1 will showcase some of these innovations, such as the high efficiency vacuum stacker, which offers an 85% energy saving over conventional stackers, and achieves the highest stacking quality for outer parts for the automotive or aerospace industry.

Likewise, the new specific levelling solutions for dealing with such a delicate material as aluminium will also have a special role to play.

Fagor Arrasate has a strong presence in China, where it has a plant in Kunshan that celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, as well as sales offices in Shanghai and Beijing. It has recently delivered an aluminium cut-to-length line (CTL) with a line width of 2650 mm to one of the largest producers of this metal in China for the aeronautical and automotive industries. This large line width makes it possible to work with large aluminium formats. It also has a roto-oscillating shear that provides the possibility of performing curved cuts and the Fagor Arrasate high efficiency vacuum stacker.

The equipment achieves a rate of 86 pieces/min and a speed of 80 m/min for thicknesses between 0.5 and 4 mm. The entire line has a high degree of automation to minimise operator intervention and risk. The line is already installed and working, and thanks to the cutting precision and the surface quality of the aluminium that it is able to achieve, it has obtained certification from several important automobile manufacturers for the supply of parts.

The need to lighten the weight of vehicles to reduce their emissions is a strong driving force behind the automotive aluminium industry in China, which produced 29.8 million vehicles in 2018, of which 1.1 million were electric.
Thanks to the boom in popularity of this type of vehicle, it is predicted that by 2030 production will be at 11.6 million. According to The International Aluminium Institute, this will cause the 3.9 million tons of aluminium used by the Chinese automobile industry in 2018 to increase to 10.7 million tons in 2030.
