In January, Fagor Arrasate won a major order from a car manufacturer with a plant in Spain. It is for an 8100Tn stamping line made up of 6 presses, all with a 1300mm stroke, the first of which has 2100TN of force, hydraulic cushion in the base and servo technology, while the other five have a 1200Tn capacity. The automation at the front of the line and between the presses is the latest generation, supplied in cooperation with a Swiss partner. The output of the machine is 15 strokes per minute, making it the highest performance system that exists at the moment in stamping technology for body parts (skin panels) for the automotive sector.
The project is of strategic importance for both the car manufacturer, with headquarters in Germany, and for the cooperative, reinforcing its membership of the exclusive group of international suppliers approved to supply such systems. This order has been won in competition with the largest manufacturers of stamping systems in the world.
Moreover, this order, which has a delivery deadline within 21 months, provides a positive reinforcement to the existing workload in the company and, by extension, to a broad base of suppliers within the field.
Fagor Arrasate, a cooperative based in Arrasate and part of the Mondragon Corporation, has six manufacturing plants in the Basque Country and China, employs 800 workers and is a world leader in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of turnkey projects in the Automotive, Iron & Steel and Electrical Appliance Industries.
