OPENING IN GKN CELAYA MEXICO OF A WARM FORGING LINE OF FAGOR

Last 7th June, the company GKN Driveline Celaya proceeded to the opening of a new warm forging line.

The line is made up of a 1600-Ton mechanical press of Fagor, with servo-driven ejector of five stations and transfer Fagor, which is capable of carrying out forging operations producing up to 40 pieces/minute. The line is completed with other 500-Ton mechanical transfer press, for the automatic calibration of the forged pieces, capable of calibrating up to 30 pieces/minute. The two presses work in “flow” mode which reduces the material movements and “stocks”.
The line is capable of forging 6 million pieces/year.

The following people were attending to the opening: Andy Reynolds Smith, CEO of GKN Driveline, Héctor López, Governor of the Guanajuato State, Sarah Hildersley, Consul of the United Kingdom Embassy in Mexico; Rubí Laura López, Mayor of Celaya; Max Owen, Director of GKN Driveline Americas and the heads of forging of GKN in the world, headed by Julio Villadangos. On the part of Fagor, the following people were attended: Toni Azpiazu, Manager of the Markina plant, where these forging units are manufactured, and Javier Torres, Sales Manager of Forging Division in Fagor Arrasate.

The investment of GKN Celaya has amounted up to a total of € 9.2 millions involving the creation of 150 new additional jobs to those existing.
