Cut to length lines for automotive industry

At FAGOR ARRASATE, our catalogue includes a comprehensive range of rollers to cover a range of working thicknesses required for this type of line. In the case of the automotive sector, the thickness of the material processed is usually a maximum of 4 mm and mechanical levellers, (the most commonly used) or hydraulic levellers can be used.

The leveller will have additional functions so that it can be adapted to the degree of automation and productivity required by the line, such as automatic cassette changing (< 5 min), LSA (Leveller Setting Assistance), a roller cleaning system, levelling roller materials and finishes, and other features.

The function of the leveller is to eliminate the internal tensions derived from the coil manufacturing process, as well as to eliminate local defects (pockets, ripples, etc.). Because the coils processed in CTL for the automotive sector are usually of very high quality, specific functions for reducing them are not usually required.

Depending on the speed of the line, the material to be processed and its thickness, at FAGOR ARRASATE we have a wide range of shears. In the case of lines intended for the automotive sector, we can offer the following key products:

• Straight-cut shears:
  • Rotary shears: These are intended for high-production lines (up to 200 cycles/minute) in which the shear cuts the material by means of the synchronised rotation of the upper and lower head. They are lines that work by pulling, and feeding is controlled by a pre-feeding roller and measuring wheel. Because the lines work by pulling, they do not need a pit and therefore are simple installations. The shears are equipped with a blade change feature and automatic clearance adjustment.
  • Drum shears: These are intended for very high-production lines (up to 200 cycles/minute). As with rotary shears, cutting is done by synchronised rotation of the upper and lower heads. They are lighter than the presses and therefore their application is very specific.
  • Transversal shears: These cut from top to bottom and therefore have the highest accuracy in terms of cutting linearity. In addition, because the material is stationary at the time of cutting, these shears achieve minimum burr values. On the other hand, the productivity of these shears is lower than that of the presses. They are lines that work in a pit and the feeding is done in a cyclic manner. The shears are equipped with an automatic die change feature in order to make curved cuts, omega cuts, etc., and automatic clearance adjustment.

• Trapezoid cutters
  • Rotating oscillating shears: These are intended for high-production lines (up to 200 cycles/minute) in which the shear cuts the material by means of the synchronised rotation of the upper and lower head. In addition, they have an oscillating movement which allows them to cut trapezoidal shapes. They are lines that work in a catenary fashion, and feeding is controlled by a preceding feeding roller and measuring wheel. Because the lines work in a catenary fashion, they do not need a pit and are therefore simple to install. The shears are equipped with a blade change feature and automatic clearance adjustment.
  • Oscillating shears: These cut from top to bottom and therefore have the highest accuracy in terms of cutting linearity. In addition, because the material is stationary at the time of cutting, these shears achieve minimum burr values. In addition, they have an oscillating movement which allows them to cut trapezoidal shapes. On the other hand, the productivity of these shears is lower than that of rotary oscillating shears. They are lines that work in a pit and the feeding is done in a cyclic manner. The shears are equipped with an automatic die change feature in order to make curved cuts, omega cuts, etc., and automatic clearance adjustment.
