During one of the yearly inspections, the Hirschvogel team at the factory in Columbus, Ohio, discovered a lot of cracks in one of the key components of a warm forging press.

That component needed urgent attention before it had a complete breakdown. It had to be redesigned, improving its strength to prevent future failures, without compromising Hirschvogel’s requirements and keeping machine performance intact.

Hirschvogel started then to look for a reliable partner who could incorporate the engineering changes and make reliable improvements in the component which had failed to prevent problems in the future.

“We already had a good experience with Fagor with new presses within the Hirschvogel group companies” says Mr. Sanket Thakur, Technical Manager at Hirschvogel Inc., in Columbus, Ohio. “Fagor had also been involved in a major overhaul of a similar press with another company in the past. So, all this put together, led us to present the project to Fagor”, Mr. Thakur adds.

“Right from beginning, when we started technical communication, Fagor team did show a very strong technical capability, commitment, and willingness to support Hirschvogel to the fullest” remarks Mr. Thakur. “Fagor team was readily available in case of any questions and their clarification about any sort of inquiries was always very understandable, detailed, and professional”, he states. “I am very satisfied with the work done and the overall support we got from Fagor team even during the challenging Pandemic times.”

This notion from the supplier is rare to find and, overall, Hirschvogel team was very happy with the end result of the project”, highligths Mr. Sanket Thakur.
