At Fagor Arrasate, we have launched various research projects to characterize these new materials and incorporate the knowledge acquired into our levelers.
Flatbend, with a budget of 1.8 million euros, focused on improving the processing chain of DP1000 steel through new control techniques and adaptation of the residual thickness tension. Coordinated by Fagor Arrasate, this project involved the participation of 7 industrial partners from 3 countries.
On the other hand, HatFlat, with a budget of 2.4 million euros, investigates the cross-effects in the development of flatness defects. Through digital twins and advanced machine learning models, we seek to holistically understand the leveling process and develop assistance software to improve results. In this project, we also collaborate with 7 industrial partners from 3 countries, under the coordination of BFI.
We wanted to share the results of these investigations with the publication of our "Roller Leveling Guide". The guide includes the arduous research work carried out by R&D project engineer Elena Silvestre for the development of her doctoral thesis "Sheet metal roll levelling optimization by means of advanced numerical models and development of new concepts for last generation materials".
